| CLOUD-FIRST IS NOT CLOUD ONLY! READ WHY YOU NEED HYBRID IT. | | The need for a different approach to IT has become ever more pressing as business and technology have dramatically accelerated. Hybrid IT is proving to be more economical and more flexible, whilst also supporting a seamless evolution in a rapidly-changing world and makes more sense than any other approach. The traditional ‘5-year refresh’ is a thing of the past, companies of all sizes are looking to IT to be more flexible, to provide a flexible and scalable experience at a lower cost than ever before. | | Matthew Fearn | Ingram Micro UK&I Business Development Manager – HPE Hybrid IT | | | | Rapid change can make what was a leading edge environment pretty much obsolete in a short amount of time, placing the entire business at a severe competitive disadvantage. This requires a mindset change from everyone involved in the process, including the financing of the equipment and services. Moving from a CAPEX to OPEX model is becoming ever-more important, talking to customers about buying-back old kit, flexible financing models, asset disposal and generally making more of a budget that seems to be shrinking every time the business blinks is paramount. | | “TO SURVIVE AND THRIVE, TODAY’S COMPANIES REALISE THAT COST, AGILITY AND INNOVATION MUST BE THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTORS AS THEY CREATE THEIR IT STRATEGY.” | | | Today, a hybrid approach that offers the right mix of public cloud, private cloud and traditional IT has emerged as the ideal solution by offering: | | | • | Protection of sensitive data | | • | Secure solutions that prevent malware and data breaches | | • | Regulatory compliance and data sovereignity | | • | Greater visibility and control of costs | | • | Increased performance and lower costs | | • | Greater control of the application ecosystem and better management of data | | | | Ensure you get the right mix by looking to HPE and Ingram Micro to support you and your customers on your Hybrid IT needs. | | | | | LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST TO FIND OUT MORE | | | | | | | | HYBRID IT STATS | | | | faster delivery of compute1 | | | | better application performance2 | | | | lower hardware and maintenance costs1 | | | | | 1“IDC Expert ROI® SPOTLIGHT: HudsonAlpha Maximising the Impact of its Genomics Research with HPE Synergy”, IDC, June 2017 2“Red Bull Racing accelerates performance with hyperconverged IT”, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, November 2017 | | | | | THE EAGLE HAS LANDED! | | HPE IS POWERING THE WORLD’S LARGEST HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING SYSTEM FOR ADVANCING ENERGY EFFICIENCY TECHNOLOGIES | | Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced in August this year that it is building a new supercomputer for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) that is more energy efficient and 3.5 times more powerful than its existing system. The new development is part of a long-standing collaboration between HPE and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to apply advanced supercomputing and HPC solutions to accelerate research across various DOE agencies. The new, fast-performing system, which NREL has named Eagle, will run more detailed models that simulate complex processes, systems, and phenomena to advance early research and development on energy technologies across fields including vehicle, wind power, and data sciences. Eagle will be installed in NREL’s Energy System Integration Facility (ESIF) data center this summer and put into production use in January 2019. | | | | | |
